We'll start off this note with some not-so-good news. As of today, our Coon Rapids store is closed permanently.
When we opened our first retail store in Burnsville in 2014, we didn't fully know if the home improvement deals we'd be offering would resonate with our fellow Minnesotans. We occupied a tiny retail footprint within a larger warehouse and simply tried to offer more savings than anyone else.
Thankfully, it worked. We expanded our store a little, moved to the other side of the building for more space, expanded again... you get the idea.
By the end of 2017, we decided to continue this expansion and open two additional stores – one in Coon Rapids and the other in Woodbury. We had a lot of ups and downs in the next few years (retail is tough!), but we tried to remain true to our mission of helping people improve their home without demo'ing their wallet.
Then Covid hit.
And like many other retailers and businesses, we experienced unexpected headwinds that impacted all aspects of our business. Our supply chain was completely disrupted and derailed. We scaled back our store schedule and added protocols to keep people safe and foot traffic numbers plummeted. Despite all of this unforeseen friction, we didn't lay off any of our staff. We're pretty proud of that feat.
Unfortunately, we no longer have the necessary staff for our Coon Rapids store and need to close it. This was a very tough decision that we deliberated over for a long time, but we strongly feel like it will be the best way we can survive (and, hopefully, thrive) as a local retail business in a competitive market.
The Good News
Closing our Coon Rapids store allows us to send more deals to our better-performing Burnsville and Woodbury stores. At times, the breadth and depth of deals at our three stores wasn't up to our standards. Moving to two stores will give us the opportunity to fill these spaces with more inventory and make finding bargains as easy as it was when we first opened.
We want to sincerely thank our loyal customers who regularly visited our Coon Rapids store. We hope that you'll continue to frequent our other stores for home improvement and home goods deals. In return, we'll keep doing everything we can to offer amazing savings on everything to improve your home!
